The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has met with representatives of fruit and vegetable organizations in order to analyze the crisis situation affecting citrus fruits this campaign. They agreed to a quota of 50,000 tons of oranges, mandarins, clementines and satsumas to be withdrawn from the market and transformed into juice that will go to charities.
The measure aims to regulate the market for these products while contributing to charitable initiatives. It will consist of the withdrawal of these citrus fruits by the producer organizations for their delivery to charities. These entities, in turn, will close contracts with the industry in order to obtain juice and nectar.
The aid for these withdrawals for free distribution to organizations or charitable institutions will be limited to: oranges, 21 Euro/100 kilos; mandarins, 25.82 Euro/100 kilos; clementinas, 32.38 Euro/100, and Satsumas, 25.56 Euro/100 kilos.
Withdrawals can only be made within the framework of the operational programs carried out by the fruit and vegetable producer organizations.
