Award-Winning Opal® Apple to Showcase at PMA Fresh Summit 2015

Opal®, the highly-acclaimed apple and recent winner of a marketing excellence award, will be showcased at PMA Fresh Summit 2015. Attendees can experience the sweet and crispy yellow apple at the FirstFruits Marketing of Washington booth #4166. In addition, FirstFruits will also be sampling fresh Opal cider for the very first time at PMA Fresh Summit.

After a record-breaking season with highs in volume, number of retailers and consumer reach as well as receiving a marketing excellence award, Opal apple will kick off its next season in November.

“We had a very successful Opal season and a lot of it was due to solid retail relationships,” says Keith Mathews, CEO of FirstFruits Marketing of Washington. “We just finished the Opal harvest and picked less volume than had been projected but we will endeavor to support every customer on a day-by-day basis.”

Opal apples are grown in Washington by Broetje Orchards with FirstFruits overseeing the fresh sector and Ryan’s Juice managing the processed sector including Opal apple cider. This non-GMO cross between Topaz and Golden Delicious stands out on the shelf with its lovely yellow color and great taste. Opal apples will be available in November and Opal apple cider is available in the spring, fall and winter seasons. More information about Opal apples can be found at www.opalapples.com.
