Village Farms is pleased to announce that all votes have been tallied and their exclusive authentic variety ‘Heavenly Villagio Marzano®’ won the distinction of best tasting tomato during PMA Fresh Summit in Anaheim, CA.
Visitors to Village Farms exhibit that took part in the Garden Fresh Flavor™ Challenge voted on their favourite tomato among three varieties during a blind taste test.
Heavenly Villagio Marzano® an extremely flavorful San Marzano type of tomato won the challenge. The other two varieties in the Garden Fresh Flavor™ Challenge were Lip Smackin’ Grape® tomato and Sinfully Sweet® Campari tomato, both were close seconds.
Garden Fresh Flavor™ Challenge participants had this to say about Heavenly Villagio Marzano®, “A little tomato with full flavor”, “a great mouth feel and bite”, “sensational”, “sweet”, and “outstanding” were just some of descriptors offered up.
According to Doug Kling, Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer for Village Farms, “It is no surprise this great tasting snacking tomato won the award for best flavored tomato at PMA. But did you know that Heavenly Villagio Marzano® is also an excellent cooking tomato?”
Village Farms has plans to roll-out cooking instructions and recipes for Heavenly Villagio Marzano® with the launch of its new website in late 2014.
