On 6 July 2025, Mila Nijhof (formerly Den Engelsman) passed away at the age of 51.
Mila came to the Netherlands as a young woman and, at the age of 22, joined Minnaar Holland as a native Russian speaker, marking the start of her long career in the world of fresh produce. After her time at Minnaar, she worked at several companies active in vegetables, soft fruit, and packaging, including The Greenery, Kappa, Driscoll's, Van Oers, and Nature's Pride. "I always wanted to do something new, from sales to marketing to management, always in or near the fresh produce sector," she told Trade magazine Primeur in an interview.
