Organic mushroom category continues to see momentum

Highline Mushrooms is returning to the Organic Produce Summit - an event that continues to fuel meaningful connections and bold conversations about the future of organics and fresh produce.

"We love OPS because it creates a space for genuine, face-to-face conversations with people across the entire organic supply chain—from growers and buyers to retail leaders and innovators," says Sabrina Pokomandy, director of business development & marketing at Highline. "It's more than a show—it's a shared commitment to innovation, quality, and a better food system."

This year, the company is celebrating a major milestone: the national shelf launch of its rebrand across the U.S. After showcasing its refreshed look at earlier trade shows, its redesigned packaging and brand identity are now officially reaching shoppers in stores across the country. This transformation marks a new era for the company—one rooted in transparency, sustainability, and shelf appeal that speaks directly to today's organic consumer.

This milestone rollout comes as organic produce continues to see strong growth across the U.S. Shoppers are prioritizing health, sustainability, and clean labels—and mushrooms are emerging as a standout item in the organic set. According to recent Mushroom Council data, organic mushrooms are outperforming the overall produce department:

  • Organic mushroom dollar sales increased by 2.0 percent, while conventional mushroom sales declined by 3.4 percent
  • Organic volume rose 3.9 percent year-over-year, compared to a 4.1 percent drop in conventional volume
  • Organic mushrooms now account for 21.9 percent of total mushroom dollar sales, a significantly higher share than organics in the overall produce category

"Consumers are expecting more from their fresh food—and organics are no longer the exception, they're the norm," says Pokomandy. "Now, with our rebrand live in stores, we're creating an even stronger presence where it matters most—at the shelf."

With farms strategically located across North America, Highline is positioned to support partners with a consistent, high-quality supply of fresh organic mushrooms. Its growing practices and distribution model ensure it meets the rising demand for organic mushrooms.

Attendees of OPS July 9-10 in Monterey, California are invited to visit the company at booth #405.
