Tomiko Itooka, a 116-year-old Japanese woman, has been recognized as the world's oldest living person by Guinness World Records, following the death of 117-year-old Maria Branyas. Born on May 23, 1908, in Osaka, Itooka now resides in a nursing home in Ashiya, Hyogo Prefecture. A former volleyball player and office manager, she has lived an active life, including climbing Mount Ontake twice. Her daily routine includes drinking Calpis and enjoying bananas, her favorite food. Itooka's longevity was confirmed by the Gerontology Research Group, making her the oldest person in the world.
