"A mission focused on efficiency as well as real benefits and practical knowledge"

Trade mission to introduce overseas exporters to Polish market

A new trade mission has been scheduled for September, aimed to invite exporters from overseas to learn about and connect with the Polish market, Rafal Zwoinski, CEO of Greenco, a Polish company dedicated to connecting Polish importers with exporters from abroad, explains: "We're planning a trade mission to reach overseas producers of fruits and vegetables. The trade mission has been scheduled for two days in September, the 17th and 18th, in Warsaw. They'll be quite intensive, as we'll be having meetings with buyers from traditional wholesale markets and large-scale retailers from Poland and Eastern Europe."

According to Zwoinski, exporters from outside the EU usually have the most issues trying to enter the Polish market. "We're targeting all fruit and vegetable producers, but we also recognize that non-EU countries face the biggest challenges in entering the Polish market directly. As a result, we're seeing increased interest from South America, South Africa and Morocco. Many of the producers from these regions are opening representative offices in countries such as Spain, England and the Netherlands. This is definitely the perfect time for them to explore the Polish and Eastern European markets."

"Our trade mission is led by active players in the fruit and vegetable market in Poland and Eastern Europe. We've been operating here for 12 years, importing and introducing different suppliers and brands. This experience gives us a real, in-depth understanding of both the suppliers and the customers. Because of this, we can share our knowledge with companies in order to help them enter the market more quickly, reduce costs and potential risks," Zwoinski states. "It doesn't just end there, though. After the trade mission, Greenco will remain available to companies in terms of recommendations, providing them with market information and so much more. Our goal is to provide a mission that is focused on efficiency as well as real benefits and practical knowledge. By doing this, we hope to make the experience truly worthwhile. And, not only that, but we will arrange meetings with buyers who are genuinely interested in cooperation."

Zwoinski says he's seen firsthand how challenging it can be to get a foothold in the Polish market without the right relationships: "Over the past dozen years, I've visited fruit and vegetable producers on various continents. They generally tend to know a few of the Polish importers, but mostly they don't have direct relationships with the Polish market. To be perfectly honest, meeting at a trade fair or exchanging emails is often not enough to start loading full containers to another continent. There are obviously many concerns, such as minimum quantities, logistic, payments and overall it's a matter of establishing trust. That's why we created Greenco to address these very real issues. For instance, we can identify companies we know will become reliable long-term partners. We can also divide containers among several customers if necessary and help find transport solutions. During our trade mission, we'll also be meeting with logistics companies to address these particular concerns. If there's a quality complaint, we will then assist in resolving it on behalf of the client."

The trade mission will consist of two days, where the participants will meet with importers and visit large-scale Polish retailers, Zwoinski explains. "The first day starts before 8:00 a.m. and is dedicated to Polish importers, wholesalers and the traditional market. The participating suppliers will meet with importers and gain valuable insights into how the traditional Polish wholesale market operates and what opportunities are available to them. In the late afternoon, we'll visit large-scale retailers to compare the products on their shelves with those at the wholesale market. The second day consists of scheduled meetings with buyers from large-scale retailers in Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine and other Eastern European countries. Between meetings, there will be an opportunity to meet other key partners, such as logistics companies and local distributors. On request, we are sending the exact program of the trade mission."

"Our goal is to offer the kind of essential support and contacts we ourselves would want when entering a new market or seeking to expand sales. We aim to be a trusted and reliable partner for suppliers by helping them improve their sales in our market and build long-term relationships with their customers. Our trade mission happens once a year. If the dates don't work for you, but you're still interested in entering our market, please feel free to contact us. We continually receive inquiries from buyers and represent suppliers daily. We can offer other forms of support for the Polish market," Zwoinski concludes.
