"We keep benefiting from the interest for the healthy properties of lemon juice"

"This is a complex moment caused by the prices of citrus fruit and, most of all, of lemons. Our core business is the production of lemon products, and especially juice. The top of the range is our organic lemon juice, available in various formats and innovative packaging solutions depending on the sales channel. We are talking about lemon-shaped plastic bottles available in 100 ml to 1 l sizes, in addition to various glass bottles or single-dose sachets, which we have also been distributing under the OLIBAR brand since 2017," explains Mino Liotti, sales manager of LIOTTI Group.

In 2024, the Group attended the main fairs, where it showcased product and process innovations so that people could discover and appreciate a product that is successful due to the intrinsic healthy characteristics of lemons even more.

LIOTTI has witnessed consumption increase by double digits over the past few years, as consumers are becoming more and more aware of the healthy characteristics of lemons and, more in general, of a wide range of citrus fruits (bergamot oranges, oranges, clementines, tangerines, of which Calabria is a leading producer).

"Despite the difficult market conditions, our group manages to stand out and conquer new markets. That is why we are increasingly busy showcasing our various product lines at the most important fairs. After Cibus in Parma - which registered record attendance - there was WTCE in Hamburg, followed by the prestigious PLMA in Amsterdam, an international fair dedicated to private labels, and then there will be FANCY FOOD in New York."

"As for the Italian production, it is a niche in a global context dominated by complementary productions from South America and South Africa. The commercial situation of fresh produce in Italy is worrying. The market is slow as the overproduction of lemons from Spain, the general drop in fresh produce consumption and the fewer commercial outlets available due to the wars underway are affecting the prices of the local produce and, more in general, market demand. Lemon prices are determined by the global volumes as well as by the characteristics of the fruit, while the price of lemon juice is heavily affected by the packaging and the commercial capacity supporting the brand."

LIOTTI Group products are present in the H&R sector, big retail chains and discount stores. The company from Crotone is well-known on an international level for the production of lemon juice and has become a complex business considering its diversification with sauces and single-doses. The acquisition in 2017 of the historic brand OLIBAR, which was already a leader in the single-dose condiment and sauces segment (e.g. mayonnaise, ketchup, BBQ sauce, mustard, yogurt sauces, ethnic sauces, etc.) was only the start of a journey that has seen the company become a European leader with a daily production of approximately six million sachets of liquid/thick products and almost as much of powdered products. The company also boasts an internal typography for the printing of films and for the customization of sachets with client brands. The leading products are oil and vinegar sachets.
