Singapore: FairPrice sells greens at low prices in pilot to help local farms
Cheaper, locally grown vegetables and tilapia fish are available at many FairPrice supermarkets islandwide under a six-month trial to help local farms aggregate supply and demand, and push produce out to consumers. Chye sim, lettuce and xiao bai cai grown by two local farms, Cropciti and Metro, are selling at $1.78 per 200g under the brand SG Farmers' Market, while bayam is going for $2.15 per 200g pack.

UK: Aldi lowers prices of fruit and veg products
Aldi has lowered the prices on over 45 fruit and veg products. Shoppers at the UK's cheapest supermarket (Which? Cheapest Supermarket April 2024) will enjoy even lower prices on items including berries, oranges, tomatoes and its fresh salad range. Items such as avocados and peppers are also included in the latest price reductions, with prices dropping by an average of around 11%. The move represents a further £34mln investment in keeping prices low for its shoppers.

Carrefour reshuffles Belgian management
Director of Sales Development Eddy Gendronneau, who joined Carrefour Belgium in September 2022, is already returning to his home country: he has been appointed Director of Sales Strategy at Carrefour France. The retailer announced that Ackerman Investment Holdings (AIH) will relinquish its majority stake in the business following a rights offer. In Forest Hills, Queens, a fruit and vegetable stand is located just 25 feet from a Key Food supermarket on the northern side of Queens Boulevard between 71st Avenue and 71st Road.
