Indian Congress candidate outlines priorities for agricultural sector

Vikramaditya Singh, the Congress candidate for the Mandi parliamentary constituency and current Public Works Minister, has outlined his priorities for the region's agricultural sector. He stated his intention to advocate for increased import duties on foreign apples to support local farmers. Additionally, Singh has proposed the construction of a cold storage facility in Kullu for fruit growers and a large plant for apple and other fruit juices, aiming to boost the local economy and provide employment opportunities for the youth.

During his campaign stops in various parts of Kullu district, he contrasted his development-focused vision with the BJP's campaign, which he claimed relies on the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Singh emphasized the importance of politics as a means of serving the public, living among the people, and addressing their issues. He also highlighted the need to preserve the region's Dev culture against the backdrop of accusations against the BJP and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur of engaging in divisive politics.
