According to the Peruvian Commission for the Promotion of Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), in 2023, Peruvian fresh ginger exports totaled $119 million, i.e. 85.5% more than the $64 million achieved in 2022. This value, PROMPERÚ highlighted, is the highest in the last three years and a sign that the country has surpassed the slowdown observed since 2020.
Peru exported 73,196 tons of ginger in 2023, i.e. 31% more than the 55,701 tons it shipped in the previous year. Peru exported ginger to 37 international markets. The United States was the main destination, with shipments worth US$50 million, 62% more than in 2022. The Netherlands followed, with exports valued at US$39 million, 162% over the previous year. Spain with $6 million, Canada with $6 million, and the United Kingdom with $5 million completed the Top 5 destinations.
