Colombian exports of Hass avocados witnessed a substantial growth of 26.4% in 2023, with the Netherlands, Belgium, and the United States being the primary markets. The Colombian Corporation of Hass Avocado Producers and Exporters - Corpohass, reports a historic year for the industry in 2023, with record-breaking exports.
A total of 5,125.5 40-foot containers were exported, with the Netherlands receiving 2,703 containers, followed by Belgium and the United States. Corpohass attributes this increase to the production of additional harvested hectares planted and the accumulation of three harvests due to a delay of La Traviesa.
Improved agricultural practices and a commitment to sustainability have also played a part in enhancing the industry's performance and the quality of export produce. Furthermore, the Hass avocado industry emerged as the third most important in Colombia in 2023, both in terms of export volume and revenue.
This accomplishment underscores the sector's efforts to innovate and adopt environmentally-friendly solutions, solidifying the commercial and economic ties between Colombia and the Netherlands.
