Indonesian inflation driven by red chili price

In November 2023, Indonesia witnessed a notable inflation rate of 0.38 percent, primarily propelled by red chili peppers, contributing 0.16 percent, according to Statistics Indonesia (BPS). Deputy for Balance Sheet and Statistical Analysis, Moh. Edy Mahmud, highlighted the dominance of red chili peppers in inflation, with cayenne peppers, shallots, rice, granulated sugar, and chicken eggs also playing contributing roles.
