Italy's Futura Ltd. at Agroworld, Almaty, Kazakhstan

Pioneering new markets in Asia

"The first two days of the exhibition were very positive, although most visitors were from Kazakhstan. The current geopolitical tensions are holding back the participation of foreign visitors," said Omar Papi, CEO of the Futura Company, one of the exhibitors at the fair. "Kazakhstan is a very important market for us. It is managed by our company Futura Central Asia, which is based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan."

"The number of visitors was still good, and we were able to make new business contacts and meet with existing customers. There were more foreign visitors on the second day. We were one of the few Italian exhibitors at the show."

Futura deals with processing lines for fruit and vegetables. Papi points out that while there are many exhibiting, there are few Italians attending. "We meet existing customers and other potential ones. The expectation is that 2024 will be the year for the realization of new projects. Requests come mainly from customers who process apples, but also greenhouse vegetables like tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers."

The Netherlands, Germany and Poland are well organized, with government-funded missions, so companies have to bear low costs - a very important aspect, especially at this time.

"Next week (6-9 November 2023) we will be exhibiting at Gulfood Manufacturing in Dubai," Papi concluded. "We see that there is a need in this market to have systems for the sizing and packaging of greenhouse products such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and eggplants.

We are also exhibiting in Dubai to propose our innovative electronic grading and packing lines for dates, just as we did last year," Papi concluded.
