California border patrol officers arrest man smuggling cocaine in cucumber shipment

California border patrol officers have arrested a Mexican earlier this month after he was caught with over 400 pounds of cocaine hiding in a box of cucumbers at the Otay Mesa Port. The suspect was taken into custody on September 15.

Officers discovered 146 packages of cocaine in the cucumber shipment. The drugs weighed in at 401.68 pounds (182 kg). The cucumber seizure came just three days after CPD discovered 22 five-gallon buckets of liquid methamphetamine. U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
