First arrivals of Jingold kiwis from the southern hemisphere to European markets

After an excellent growing season with high yields and excellent quality, the first Jingold kiwis from the southern hemisphere are returning to the European market.

The harvest, which has taken place over the past few months in several growing regions of the southern hemisphere, is now at its end. Significant quantities of a product that fully meets the brand's requirements are currently arriving on the markets.

Jingold kiwis are grown according to strict cultivation regulations that guarantee high quality standards recognized by consumers around the world.

"We are satisfied with the results achieved so far, both in terms of higher yields and also with the quality of the kiwifruit," said Moreno Armuzzi, commercial manager of Jingold. "The goal is to guarantee product availability for 12 months of the year. That remains hard work, by the way, given the growing demand for kiwis worldwide. With an ever-widening supply, we are going to strengthen our role as an international player in the sector."

With regard to the southern hemisphere, the company's development plans foresee an expansion and differentiation of supply compared to the past. After an initial phase of increased production in Chile and Argentina, the focus now turns to South Africa, which is in its first year of production and is showing encouraging results. The ambitious expansion plans will allow the Italian company to increase revenue in the southern hemisphere.

"The development in the southern hemisphere involves yellow kiwis of the Jintao and Jinyan varieties, selected for their good shelf life and for their qualitative characteristics," said Claudio Pisi, Jingold's quality manager. "In South Africa our varieties also comply with strict quality standards, both in terms of sugar content and the yellow color of the flesh. Any fruits that fail to meet the standard are not marketed under the Jingold brand."

In addition, these two varieties, which have similar characteristics but thrive in different climatic and soil conditions, facilitate an expansion of the cultivation area and thus continuity in terms of sales.
