"Our fresh-keeping sachets help extend the shelf life of stone fruit"

According to statistics from ASOEX, the export of Chilean plums to China in 2022/23 will hit a record high of 55,000 tons. Plums have become the second-largest Chilean fresh fruit exported to China after cherries. As the stone fruit season in the southern hemisphere comes to an end, the stone fruit production season in the northern hemisphere is on its way and some producing areas have already started harvesting. With the drop in sea freight costs, trade is gradually returning to normal. SPM Bio, a post-harvest fresh-keeping service company for fruits and vegetables, is very optimistic about the upcoming stone fruit production season in the northern hemisphere. Debby, from the company, introduced the product developed by the company, which is suitable for stone fruits.

Drupe fruits such as apricots, and plums are mostly harvested in high-temperature seasons, and the fruits breathe vigorously, consume nutrients rapidly, and easily rot and deteriorate. During processing, stone fruit storage and transportation are susceptible to mechanical damage, brown heart disease is prone to occur in low-temperature storage, and rot and deterioration often occur in high-temperature storage.

"1-MCP is an efficient post-harvest fresh-keeping product, which can effectively prolong the storage time of stone fruits, and improve water loss and hardness reduction caused by transportation delays. 1-MCP treatment in the cold storage of plums and peaches helps to extend the shelf life of the fruit." Debby said.

"1-MCP for fresh-keeping in cold storage has been widely used for many fruits around the world. If it is applied together with fresh-keeping technologies such as low temperature and controlled atmosphere, it can further improve the freshness of the product."

In addition to the preservatives used in cold storage, Angel Fresh sachets are also one of SPM Bio’s main products. "Angel Fresh sachets have a variety of specifications, which are suitable for different packages. They can be applied to all aspects of post-harvest storage and transportation of fruits and vegetables, especially for retail. In addition, we can also provide customers with customized fresh-keeping solutions according to different packaging and usage scenarios," said Debby.

SPM Bio is a company specializing in post-harvest fresh-keeping services for fruits and vegetables. It has nearly ten years of experience in the Chinese local market. It has its own R&D, analysis and service teams, and has obtained sales qualifications in Argentina and other countries. Currently, it is looking for sales agents in other regions.

"In addition to the existing variety of products, we hope to cooperate with more vegetable wholesalers, exporters, packers and agents to contribute to reducing the loss of vegetables in the supply chain. SPM Bio can also send free samples to customers for testing.”
