Study finds no association between potato consumption and elevated heart disease risk

A new study by Dr. Lynn L. Moore dismisses the notion that eating potatoes – even chips and fries – is associated with elevated heart disease risk. The study concluded that overall diet and lifestyle play a more significant role than any one food in managing risk for diseases like type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Potatoesusa.com reports that Dr. Moore, professor at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, used one of the world’s oldest and best-known lifestyle and disease risk databases (The Framingham Offspring data) to support her conclusions.
