Mushroom skin can be used to make the base of computer chips and batteries that allow them to be more easily recycled. Martin Kaltenbrunner, at Johannes Kepler University in Germany, said the mushroom fungus can be successfully used in computer chips.
The mushroom skin, tested by researchers is flexible, durable and can withstand temperatures over 2000 C. This is ideal for computer chips and can help to reduce the 50 million tons of annual electronic waste generated from old computer hardware.
