Colombia's blueberry exports have increased

Total blueberry shipments to the United States increased from USD 675.75 million in 2014 to USD 1,742 million in 2021. The second largest importer in the world is the Netherlands (USD 654.2 million), followed by Germany (USD470). .8) and the United Kingdom (USD 446.3 million).

According to data from ProColombia, Peru is the main supplier of blueberries to the US market, a fresh fruit that reaches more than 38% of households in that country. In addition, it represents 30% of the world’s total imports. The main destinations where these fresh Colombian fruits were exported during the first half of the year were the United States (USD863,938), Qatar (USD35,653), Malaysia (USD33,400), Singapore (USD30,886) , Italy (USD13.752) and Spain (USD13,120).

Shipments of these fruits decreased by -14.2%, -31.5% and -29.5% respectively to the US, Qatar and Spanish markets. Of these countries, Malaysia was the only market in which the value of exports increased by 673.1%.
