Artes Politecnica nets installed at Frutta Friuli

"'Total Grey' nets excellent against fruit scalding"

Frutta Friuli, the largest cooperative of fruit growers in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, shared its experience with Total Grey ® nets by Artes Politecnica.

After a season with strong sunshine, director Armando Paoli confirmed that the result widely exceeded expectations: zero scalds on 60 hectares of apple orchards located in Maniago (Pordenone). The varieties grown are: Gala, Granny Smith, Golden, Fuji and Inored Story.

“Total Grey by Artes Politecnica is the perfect compromise between durability and luminosity compared with the other colors. The net is brighter than the 'classic' crystal and white nets. Despite the minimal shading, it guarantees excellent yields, preventing scalding especially on delicate varieties such as Gala and Granny Smith," reads a company note.

Field tests with a lux-meter identified 10% shading with this system. Therefore the trees receive plenty of light, which in turn means homogeneous growth, more vigor and a better and quicker gem development.

Not to mention the lower visual and environmental impact, which is becoming an increasingly important aspect especially for orchards located near towns. "With a production of around 50 ton/hectare with three-year-old plants, the cooperative is very satisfied with the result."
