The Avozilla is back at Brisbane Central Market

Weighing in at over 1kg the giant avocado 'Avozilla' is 5-10 times the size of a regular avocado and looks more like a melon.

Grown in Central Queensland, this variety of avocado is quite rare with only a limited number available across Australia. Coco’s Exotic Fruit and Veg Stall are selling the Avozillas in Brisbane's Central Market while they last!

Officially known as “The Post Office” variety, the giant avocado originated in South Africa as a result of different avocado species mixing together with the very first tree bearing fruit in 2014.

As a new variety, each tree only produces around 10 avocados each, which is why they are so rare.

Prices do vary but you can expect to pay around $23 for one.
