Pyrodiserbe, an ecological solution for disinfecting soils

The flame weeding technique has been consolidated for several years. In Italy, the company Officine Mingozzi was one of the early adopters of this method. "From the ecological point of view, this technique is characterized by a very low environmental impact. Due to the fact that LPG, while burning, produces only water vapor and carbon dioxide, the flame is transparent and free from any phenomenon of smoke release; it is therefore possible to invest directly with the flame any type of flooring or coating, which is not affected by low combustion temperatures, without altering even the color," said the owner Marco Mingozzi.

The heating, which is determined by the rapid passage of the burners from the lower to the superficial layers, leads to a temperature which generally does not exceed 50-60° C, and which we can easily find even in the hottest hours of the summer season. Therefore, the damage to the microflora and microorganisms in the soil is minimal; there are no risks for operators and no toxic residues are released into the environment.

Pyrodiserbo has also proved to be effective against Alternaria in pear trees, and this is exactly the right time to do something about it in the rows. "The spores of Stemphylium vesicarium, which is the agent that causes spotting, are damaging the epidermis of the pear tree; opportunistic mycetes, such as Alternaria, settle on these lesions. Therefore, it is necessary to treat the root and eliminate the Stemphylium found in weeds. Thanks to pyrodisergy, in some farms the extent of damage was minimal compared to other hectares weeded with more traditional systems."

The machine is suited for treatment against weeds, fungal diseases and parasites. Hourly consumption of the machine: from 25 to 28 Kg/hour of LPG depending on the type of use; working speed from 2,5 to 3,5 Km/hour depending on the type of work to be carried out, on the climatic and soil conditions.
