Blake Reeve - Reeve Tasmania

“There’s no extra work to get ready for audits; I just print out the report and I’m done”

A young Tasmanian Orchardist set out to digitalize operations to tap into lucrative export markets. Blake Reeve, Managing Director of Reeve Tasmania, decided on TieUp Farming software to manage the stringent controls across all their farming operations.

Reeve says: “The reporting for export covers a range of activities on the farm; it’s not just chemical use, but whole-of-farm hygiene. Whether we’re slashing or spraying, it’s all recorded in TieUp Farming and I know I’m covered.” Reeve says compliance responsibilities were the immediate benefit of moving to the cloud-based system. “There’s no extra work to get ready for audits; I just print out the report and I’m done.”

Along with export obligations, TieUp Farming captures and reports data for all Freshcare audit requirements. The comprehensive detail in the Spray Diary accurately reports chemical use in easy-to-access reporting.

“For general tasks, our workers clock in and out on tasks, saving time by eliminating double handling of requests and manually passing on information to workers. It cuts out the paperwork and captures costs on the run. I can plan tasks ahead of time and know that my supervisors have all the information they need to do their work,” Reeve explains.

“Plus, if the supervisors see something that needs attention, they can add a task from their mobile and assign it to me or someone else so that it gets done without having to remember it or wait to catch up later in the day.” Tasks added on the run are captured in the software with costs and working time collected in one easy step.

TieUp Farming CEO, Roei Yaakobi, says that the company continues to develop its product based on its growers' needs to meet and beat industry standards. “The software is developed based on feedback from our close association with our growers from right across Australia. The horticulture industry has very specific requirements of their software, and we continue to develop our product based on these requirements.”

“The guys at TieUp are always available to answer any questions or help with problem-solving and getting the best use out of the software,” Reeve continues. The TieUp team will be on-site in Huonville next month in preparation for harvest.

The harvest module uses QR codes to assign pickers to bins recording accurate real time data during harvest. TieUp Farming software provides detail of where bins were picked by a geolocated photo that also assists in harvest quality for marketing.

The other benefit to a growing business is being able to front up to the bank and show them how costs are captured. Reeve says: “It made it so much easier to get finance as we continue our growth strategy. The bank needs to know we’re a sustainable business and capturing it all in the TieUp software really helped with that.”
