"Chinese export volume of honey pomelo decreased, the price in overseas markets doubled"

The export season of the Pinghe honey pomelo is coming to an end. Although many exporters temporarily halted export or reduced their export volume because of the pandemic, overseas market demand remained stable. That is why the price went up. Alice Zhang, the Sales Manager for Europe at One Day One Group, recently shared her insights into the honey pomelo market and sales conditions this season.

The overall surface area devoted to honey pomelo plantation in Pinghe expanded in recent years and market competition grows more intense. When asked about the impact of the pandemic and the global shipping crisis on the company export figures, manager Zhang replied that the shipping fee between China and Europe was roughly 2,500 USD around this time last year, but this year the fee is as high as 13,500 USD per container. Moreover, farmers are less devoted to proper plantation management because of the general economic malaise, and so the average product quality declines. Other farmers have decided to graft different citrus varieties onto their trees. The lack of raw materials and the high shipping cost both have an impact on the operations of honey pomelo companies. In addition, shipping times are unreliable. Limited shipping capacity further complicates operations in production areas. That is why so many exporters have stopped exporting honey pomelo, or at least drastically reduced their export volume this year.

This season has been challenging for One Day One Group. According to manager Zhang, "we have years of experience in the management of honey pomelo export. And we have many clients in Europe, such as supermarkets and wholesale markets, with whom we have strategic collaborations. Regardless of the challenges, we guarantee a stable product supply to our clients, because trust is the foundational principle of our business. And we do not shift our difficulties onto the shoulders of our clients."

"We have always paid close attention to proper plantation management. Our management method includes deep roots in the agrarian communities and close cooperation with the farmers there. We help farmers to raise the level of plantation management and improve the average product quality of their crops. We always strictly observe GAP-based plantation management, whether in our own plantations or on the plantations of the farmers we work with. That is how we guarantee to meet the national regulations for agricultural chemicals in the countries that import our honey pomelo products. We also record and archive all the agricultural chemicals we use and the volumes we apply so that our clients can always check relevant information via the codes on the packaging of our products."

Excellent product quality helps One Day One Group maintain steady growth of company services. When asked what else, in addition to product quality, helped the company grow during this difficult period, manager Zhang replied, "as a company we place emphasis on sustainable development and environmental protection. We have never stopped researching ways to reduce the use of plastic in the packaging of our products. We have booked great results in the many years of tests and experiments we devoted to this issue. Many European countries have also begun to raise the standards for 'plastic-free' packaging. Thanks to our own experiments, we were well prepared for these changes in regulations and could easily respond to changes in the market. We communicated with our clients in advance and made the necessary preparations to guarantee that our honey pomelo would continue to reach the customers without any difficulty."

"Moreover, we have our own distribution company in the Netherlands and work together with several cold storage facilities. We are able to closely monitor and control the storage, processing, and packaging stages of the supply chain. And we are able to eliminate second-hand pollution during processing or transport, which reduces wear and tear on the products. Our processing factory is IFS certified. We can guarantee that our products are processed and stored in an environment that is safe, hygienic, and suitable. At the same time, we also make local storage and distribution more convenient. Clients who need honey pomelo can immediately collect them from the refrigerated storage facilities of our partners."

"We gain the trust of our clients when we deliver the first honey pomelo to Europe on time. And we gain their approval when we provide premium product quality. Up until now, the sales volume has been stable. Not only do we satisfy the steady demand from loyal clients, we also receive inquiries from supermarkets who are interested in our honey pomelo and wish to work together with us."

"Other focus points for the One Day One Group are new product development and brand formation. The 'One Day One Group 4 Color Honey Pomelo Gift Box' is one of the gift boxes we are promoting this year. Overseas clients pay a lot of attention to pesticide residue. While we pay close attention to the levels of pesticide residue, we also focus on the flavor of our products. We respect the characteristics of production areas. All our honey pomelo come from Pinghe in Fujian, the 'hometown of honey pomelo'. We believe that the natural conditions, weather conditions, product varieties, and the long history of honey pomelo cultivation in Pinghe is a gift from nature."

One Day One Group has always worked hard to provide fresh, safe, and healthy fruits and vegetables to clients across the globe. The company specializes in seasonal fruits and vegetables, and excels in the integration of plantation management, processing, logistics, and sales for international distribution of premium fruits and vegetables. The company closely controls the entire supply chain from beginning to end, to provide millions of households across the globe with a reliable supply of fresh and healthy fruits.
