First shipments with Chilean cherries of newly established H Export arrive in Guangzhou

"Careful pruning and thinning has improved size and color of new Chilean cherry crop"

H Export is a newly established Chilean export brand. This December, first shipments of fresh Chilean cherries are arriving in China, USA and South America under the company's Tiger brand.

One of the first arrivals of H Export's cherries on the Guangzhou import market in the South of China

Sebastián Bejares Welkner is Commercial and Operational Manager at H Export. "We export Santina, Royal Dawn, Kordia, Regina, Lapins and Bing cherries from Chile. We are sending our fruit to China, Asia, USA and South America."

He is optimistic about this year's cherry crop and quality: "The quality this season is going to be good. Chilean cherry growers implemented major changes in pruning and thinning. Last year's results did not meet market standards. This year, due to these decision earlier on in the season, better results will be achieved regarding quality, size and colour."

"This season's fruit will be qualitative and prices will reflect that. Overall, I expect there might be less fruit on the market. The reason is the for the Lapins variety, the most planted tree in Chile, yield this season is lower. This will affect overall export crop".

H Export exports fruits by "cherry express" and through air freight. "Logistically this season will be a challenge".

The company has implemented several measures to mitigate Covid risks. "The Covid-measures that we have is that every worker of the packing is vaccinated, including booster shots where possible. In addition, we are fumigating every part of the packing house against Covid, every cherry is treated with anti-fungicide product. Finally, we we fumigate every container and each box. We are confident we will not face problems."

"Finally, we are so excited to launch are new Tiger brand. The tiger is the best. Next year is the year of the tiger, which is why we have chosen it."

The company has invested in the Unitec Cherry Vision 3.0. This sorting line enables H Export to sort  by size, color, internal defects, external defects, maturity and brix grade . "We are able to sort by three different color gradations with the line. This will be a strong marketing and sales asset in China."
