Grower-shipper vaccinates employees against COVID-19

Walter P. Rawl & Sons has partnered with Pelion Family Practice to offer free COVID-19 vaccines to all its South Carolina employees. The second event in the company's multi-part immunization series took place March 31 at WP Rawl's headquarters, allowing approximately 200 team members to get vaccinated.

At the end of March, WP Rawl's immunization event vaccinated approximately 200 employees.

"We owe our company's success since 1925 to our employees," says Ashley Rawl, vice-president of sales, marketing and product development. "Giving back and providing them with a potentially life-saving vaccine is our social responsibility to both the community and to our culture. Our team members will be safer while working on our farms, processing in our facilities and during distribution throughout the nation, which in turn, ensures we will not compromise our ability to provide farm fresh leafy greens to customers."

Walter P. Rawl & Sons partnered with Pelion Family Practice to administer the free vaccines.

The vaccination is not mandated by the company, but highly encouraged. On March 24, WP Rawl took 116 employees to Pelion Family Practice for a first round of vaccinations. The company fondly referred to the large passenger van as the “Vaccine Van” and drove employees to their appointments. With the second on-site event, WP Rawl made it easier for employees to receive their COVID-19 immunizations, reaching a company milestone of more than 300 vaccines provided to date.

To date, a company milestone of more than 300 vaccines have been provided.

WP Rawl will continue supporting its team by facilitating additional vaccination events for employees in the future. Additionally, WP Rawl's HR team continues to be a resource for employees to learn more about immunization options and offers assistance as requested.
