In the last week the first loads Hass avocado from Peru by exporter FCE Export SAC arrived in Europe. The avocado were packed in Huaral, north of Lima but were produced in the higher areas towards the south.
In this region the maturity of Hass avocado is earlier than from the other production areas throughout the country. The dry matter content from this production already reached the necessary levels for good ripening in time to benefit from the good market in Europe at this time with still limited supply from the various origins.
Diana Sajami, managing director of FCE Export was present herself to see the arrival of the first containers. She is said to be content with the good quality but, more importantly, the clients were happy with the quality.
According to Ms. Sajami, Peru expects to have approx. 10% more volume in this season than last year but with the increasing consumption in Europe and a higher percentage from Peru being sent to other markets outside of Europe. She also expects a more stable market this year.
