Miss Peppas launches new brand 'Good Stuff'

"Bringing people closer to more unfamiliar tastes"

Necessity is the mother of invention, as the current Corona crisis has shown. Numerous new marketing initiatives are being launched in the fresh produce sector. Stuttgart-based entrepreneur Deniz Sever (Miss Peppas LLC) has also opted for a new business model. Under the name Good Stuff, a versatile online store with delicatessen items and delicacies from all over the world will soon be launched.

Normally, the owner devotes herself to supplying restaurateurs and caterers in the Stuttgart area. Dewy fresh goods in any color are purchased at the local wholesale market and delivered to the customer in the desired quantity. However, the lockdown and subsequent gastro closure has brought this line of business to a virtual standstill. "We are currently serving only 10 percent of our usual clientele. For the regional gastronomy industry, the current, second lockdown in particular is catastrophic. Several well-known names have already filed for bankruptcy," says Ms. Sever.

Under the company name Miss Peppas, Deniz Sever (r) has long been a familiar face in Stuttgart's gastronomy industry.

Unique products from small-scale production
Due to the overall loss of sales, an idea came into being to turn a long-cherished wish into reality. Thus, the brand new online store 'Good Stuff' came into being. "I had this idea for about two years, Corona of course accelerated the realization a lot," says Sever.

The basic idea behind the online marketing platform is to offer both private and commercial buyers nationwide unique and previously unknown delicatessen items from small-scale production. The commodity is referred exclusively from smaller manufactories and family enterprises, so that qualitatively high-quality products can be guaranteed to the buyer. "It is particularly important to me to support smaller companies and to work as environmentally friendly as possible. So we've tried to incorporate all aspects accordingly."

Bringing unknown tastes closer
Especially in times of Corona, experimentation is especially common in the home kitchen because people cook at home a lot. "I first look at the particular farm myself, try the products and then decide who to work with. We also want to introduce people to the more unfamiliar flavors. For example, we put together customized packages for several people as well as gift baskets in a desired flavor."

The new online store's product selection includes not only specialties from tried-and-true vacation destinations, such as Italy and Greece, but also from Eastern Europe. "In my opinion, the latter region has received far too little attention so far. People hardly know which crazy specialities are manufactured in -for example- Hungary and Romania.  But in Italy, too, there are interesting delicacies - pickled vegetables from Piedmont, for example - which are not even known in this country."

The first specialties - such as pickled onions - from the northern Italian region of Piedmont have already arrived in Stuttgart and will soon find their way to customers.

Business segment with stability
Despite the new business line, the usual wholesale business will continue to run alongside it. Corona will therefore inevitably accompany the day-to-day business of Miss Peppas. "My guess is that there will be no improvement until May. But I am convinced that we have now found a business area that has a certain permanence."
