"Jianshui in Yunnan is the main production area of early grapes where early production from this area has been trickling into the market since the end of February. In general, prices in the market are showing large differences. Take Sunshine Rose as an example, the wholesale price of good quality products reaches as high as about 110 yuan per kilogram, while those lacking in quality are only sold for about 60 yuan,” Liang Haoran, a grape grower and distributor in Yunnan said.

"In addition, Jianshui in Yunnan is the earliest and largest production area of the Xiahei variety in China, with a total planted area of over 100,000 mu. The market for this variety this year is not promising. Currently, the average purchase price on the market is about 6 yuan per kilo, which is very low compared with the same period last year and is almost the same as the cost of planting so growers are basically unable to make any profits."
“Fortunately, thanks to the unique advantages in geographical conditions, Xiahei grapes from Jianshui have not been touched by the extreme weather conditions, and the overall quality is good. It is expected that the production season of this variety this year will come to an end at the end of this month or early next month."
