AKON Robotics focuses on palletizing in confined spaces

"A robot will not get sick and is immune to viruses"

At a time when the coming shortage of employees is confronting companies with ever greater problems, another spectre has showed up: COVID-19. The virus is causing additional problems in maintaining production and in logistics.

With the latest robot technology, however, production and logistics can still be maintained with significantly reduced staffing levels or optimised staffing requirements. Even in such times of crisis that are currently shaking Europe.

Palletizing in a confined space
AKON Robotics from Bremen has specialized in robot applications in the field of palletizing, depalletizing, re-palletizing, handling and robot labeling. The latest product from AKON is a carton palletizer for confined spaces, with full safety features. "The complete automation system in its basic version requires a space requirement of 2.5 x 2.8 meters. This is made possible by using additional safety software packages," explains sales manager Thomas Bloch. In the next few weeks, another robot automation system will be delivered, which will then palletise sacks in the tightest of spaces, he continues.

"We are currently waiting for sample parts, but due to the corona situation, this is all shifting a bit. Our current customer processes oat flakes into bags: "I could still imagine that we could also support companies in the fruit and vegetable sector with this fully automated bag palletizing system," says Bloch.

Video: Another automation concept from AKON Robotics, which has caused a sensation in recent months, is the automatic labelling of plastic crates on full pallets.

Robot automation for the future
"These examples show that even companies that have to struggle with limited space can at least win the battle on the side of maintaining production," Bloch emphasises. "Automation concepts and creative ideas, such as those we offer, support companies in their fight against viruses and staff shortages. Because a robot will not get sick and is immune to viruses."
