More controls are now in place with working with our banana partners Fyffes, and we will be utilising a state of the art designated ripening facility to be consistent with our colouring grades. In terms of the physical size of the banana we have invested in ‘sizing up’ to give a slightly larger prepacked banana as well as offering a great sized large loose banana to our range.’

On top of this work we will be exploring options on reducing packaging where possible with large ‘loose bananas’ being relaunched and a trial on ‘banded’ bananas to see as a replacement to everyday prepack. If our plan is successful, we will take out over 1,000,000 single use plastic packaging this year which would have been used in our banana trade.’
