Two countries in the Middle East prohibit import of some Chinese products

According to an overseas informant for Xiamen Credit Insurance, Jordan and Egypt have implemented measures to prohibit the import of some Chinese products:

Jordan: temporary import prohibition for animal- and plant-based products
The Jordan Ministry of Agriculture recently announced a temporary import ban for all animal and plant-based products from China. This measurement was taken to prevent the spread of the corona virus. The chief of the licensing bureau stated that this decision was made to avoid the spread of the corona virus into Jordan, but also that the Ministry of Agriculture will reconsider this decision 'in the future'. The bureau has already temporarily stopped handing out new licenses until further notice.

Egypt: import prohibition for Chinese onions
The Egyptian Bureau for Food Safety announced a prohibition on the import of Chinese onions. At the same time, Egyptian authorities have also increased the severity of customs inspections on all food products from Asia. This includes cooperation with quarantine organizations and careful examination of import products. A spokesperson for the Egyptian Bureau for Food Safety stated that the bureau has a list of 14 types of agricultural products that require additional inspection. The list includes potatoes, oranges, and peanuts.
