"Together with CSO Italy, we worked hard to also organize conventions that could provide useful answers to the main problems that affect the sector and we think we have reached our goal. We started off on Thursday with an analysis on Australian pear cultivation to find solutions that could be applicable to our territory as well. We continued with a focus on the fight against brown spot, during which we analyzed the different tests carried out by Universities and research institutes down to the defense strategy Regione Emilia-Romagna has put in place for next year," explains Albano Bergami, vice-president of OI Pera.

"The convention on the brown marmorated stink bug revealed Italy boasts the highest research level globally, from the monitoring of defense hypotheses with innovative systems and the introduction of antagonist insects to the development of passive defense techniques such as nets. The convention dedicated to commercialization and new markets was also important and it was the occasion to illustrate the steps forwards in the protocol for exports to China."

"Of course there are still some problems, first of all the segmented offer. We need total aggregation, with no divisions in small or large groups. The entire sector must be united."

"150 highly-innovative companies took part - 30% more than last year - as well as a high number of operators, 8% of which from all five continents. What is more, 2,500 people attended the World Pear Forum conventions and the technical meetings."
