Fruit from Xinjiang makes use of the popularity of the "One Belt One Road" initiative, a large-scale infrastructure project that connects China to the rest of the world. Xinjiang fruit is making its way to the kitchens of consumers in the Middle East and Europe. News from the Urumqi customs office shows that top-quality fruit from Changji Hui autonomous prefecture in Xinjiang is for sale in high-end markets in the Middle East and Europe. The market demand is so high that supply falls short. The overall export volume from Changji reached 2,035.73 tons in the period until October 31st. The export value is around 5 million USD.
The fruit industry has rapidly developed in the last few years as a result of the "One Belt One Road" initiative. Relevant companies subsequently expanded their activities along this road and sent their top-quality fruits abroad. One fruit farmer from Xinjiang stated that there are opportunities and risks in expansion abroad. Foreign markets have higher standards for fruit quality, but people in the industry have confidence that Xinjiang fruit will meet the expectations.
