Les Comptoirs de la Bio: first store to open in Guadeloupe in early November

Philippe Bramedie, president-founder of the network Les Comptoirs de la Bio, announced on Tuesday on social media the opening of the first Les Comptoirs de la Bio store in Guadeloupe in early November. “We want the offer in organic products to be accessible to all, because all French regions/territories are considered and because there is a demand, an expectation. We've opened stores on Réunion island, and now in Guadeloupe, and we welcome all projects promoting without trivializing the democratization of organic products.”

A mostly French supply
Les Comptoirs de la Bio pays particular attention to the selection of its producers. “What we look for in our producers is authenticity, know-how, taste and quality, but also ‘commitment’. They all share strong convictions and responsible modes of production. Our products come mostly from France, more particularly from some regions through local agreements with our members (15 to 25% of the items in stores, depending on the periods and the seasons), but our products also come from other countries when it comes to specialized products that can only be produced outside of France, such as Goji berries or Brazil nuts. All our products are meticulously selected according to the Biological Charters and the necessary resulting quality.”

Within the network of Les Comptoirs de la Bio, it is also possible to find certifications “that go beyond the AB and organic European labels”, such as the Demeter label, Nature and Progress, or even the Bio partner label.

Third-way merchandise: a competition for organic products?
According to Philippe, “anything which tends towards a healthy diet, respectful of the cycles of nature, as well as responsible modes of production, goes in the right direction. However, the real problem is when consumers are led to believe that a product is organic while it is not...Cultivating misunderstandings is not cultivating organic…”

Many implementation projects for 2020
“We are solicited by many project leaders all over France, including overseas regions and departments. More than 15 openings are already planned by the end of 2019, and the dynamics of the group is confirmed with some 40 openings planned in 2020...and maybe other openings in the overseas departments and regions, but only the future will tell!”
