At the Dutch produce wholesaler, FMI, the Argentinian lemon program runs through to the beginning of September. "There was a lot of rain in Argentina in May and June. This has resulted in far less volume being loaded than last year," says Peter Bouman.
"The European market for overseas lemons was also not very strong. Spain had a large harvest this year. For Argentina, it was a season to be quickly forgotten."
Limes
"The lime situation has improved in recent weeks. Prices are at a reasonable level. This, after they were extremely low in May and June. These low prices were due to the enormous volumes from, in particular, Brazil. Currently, lower volumes are being loaded from Brazil and Mexico," he concludes.
