"Kiwiberries from Dandong facing a promising season"

“This year's kiwiberry harvest in Dandong will start in late August, the same as previous years, but we will strategically delay the harvest based on the number of orders. Harvest this season is expected to last for about one and a half months.” Ms. Yu Wenxin, Marketing Director of Dandong Rishenglin Ecological Agriculture Development Co., Ltd. said.

“We will keep this year’s production at around 300,000 kg. Judging by the current fruit set, the two cold blasts we experienced this spring have not had an excessive impact on the yield. Fruit set is in line with the expected prospect, and the appearance and sizes are good. The fruit is full and plump, not affected by any pests or diseases. As planned, we will begin to test fruit development by various indicators, such as sugar content, in mid-August, and carry out comprehensive monitoring.”

"As far as pricing is concerned, due to the fact that some low quality products disrupted the market last year, prices are expected to slide slightly this year, but not noticeably. I am not concerned, as with the deepening awareness of this fruit, good products will eventually stand out and take up a stable market share."

Fresh kiwiberries and deep processed products

“Our growing center is located in Dandong, and we have been expanding our planting area year by year. Currently, our kiwi berry growing center in Dandong City, Liaoning Province covers 1,500 mu. We have also established a partnership with the Institute of Botany of Shenyang Agricultural University since the beginning of our business, and serve as the university’s kiwi berry teaching demonstration center. Our kiwiberry trees have entered a high-yield period, and we have developed a complete assortment, divided into early, middle and late varieties. Main varieties grown by us are Mixiang, Changjiang No.1, Liaofeng, Longcheng No.2, and 133.”

“In addition to fresh products, we also offer a complete range of deep-processed products. In order to achieve standardized operation, we are equipped with production workshops, processing plants, product sorting and packaging houses, food processing workshops, and an office area. Our facility has an area of 22,000 square meters and we have a cold storage capacity of 6,000 tons and a daily processing capacity of 200 tons."

Kiwiberry juice

"In recent years, we have made continuous efforts in research and development. As a result, we now have six product lines, including fruit juices, dried fruit and jams, smoothies, and ciders, which has greatly solved the problem of second-grade fruit and brings a use and value to these fruits, consequently increasing the income of the center. We would also like to work with interested processors in the future to jointly develop products, and finally form an industrial cooperation alliance for production, supply, marketing, transportation, and storage."

“At this stage, our fresh products are mainly marketed under the self-owned brand 'Yujiu Mixiang' though e-commerce platforms and wholesale markets, with a 20% high-end retail to 80% wholesale ratio. Our deep-processed products are mainly supplied as raw material, offered through exclusive channels. At the same time, we are trying to open up retail channels for these products and build their own brand as healthy fruit and vegetable drinks. When this is done, marketing channels for these products will be expanded to e-commerce platforms, supermarkets, and retail stores."
