"Taking advantage of the empty market"

"Fresh walnut season in Xinjiang starts at the end of July"

In China, most producing areas start their fresh walnut seasons in August or September, but the season in Xinjiang will begin at the end of this month. “As expected, our season will begin at the end of July. Compared with last year, our production has increased and is expected to reach around 78,000 tons. As there are no large volumes of fresh walnuts available on the market, we expect a good start." Mr. Ma Chunnian from Baopu Yinxing (Shanghai) Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. shared.

Mr. Ma has been working with farmers in Xinjiang and is helping them to establish better sales channels. As he explained: “Last year, the farm gate purchase price was very low, and the final market price was high, but farmers could not take advantage of it. This is due to the fact that they did not have good sales channels themselves, and only sell their products to other cities in China through agencies. This year, we decided to work with farmers to use our existing sales channels to sell walnuts across China and reward them at a fairer price."

“In this way, on the one hand, farmers can get higher prices for their products. On the other hand, we are able to provide a stable supply for the Chinese market. In addition to expanding their sales channels, we also help farmers improve their agricultural techniques to offer more standard, better quality products and achieve more stable yields. Fresh walnuts will be offered on the market for two months, after which we will only supply dried walnuts. In China, only a few cities are accustomed to and know how to eat fresh walnuts, mainly first-tier cities, while consumers in other cities are not familiar with them. We will be able to supply the whole country after dried walnuts become available.”
