Belgium: “Demand and assortment of organic nuts and dried fruit growing”

Every year, Allnuts sees the demand for nuts increasing in Belgium. "The demand, as well as the range, keeps growing. There is not only an increase in the demand for diverse packaging, mixes, and varieties. Organic products are also becoming more popular," says Allnuts' Marlayne Kappé.

"The organic nut supply is not as large as the conventional range. We do, however, see more and more organic products becoming available. We do not include all the kinds of organic nuts in our range. This is because, in addition to being organic, the product must also look and taste good. It must be worthy of the Allnuts name."

“Now that it is summer again, we see a change in the demand for our product. In the winter, the demand for chocolate products is high. In warmer weather, the demand for tapas style products increases," says Marlayne. The company has noticed a lot of movement on the nut market.

It also sees that the situation depends on various factors, including politics. "We have recently noticed that freeze-dried fruit is very popular. We are, therefore, busy conducting a test. We want to determine if there is a demand for this product. We also want to see how we will offer this product to our clients."

Packaging
Allnuts uses different kinds of plastic packaging. This kind of packaging maximizes the products' shelf life. "The plastic and packaging issues are very important in the foodstuffs sector. Despite this, we are still forced to use plastic packaging for our products. We have, however, switched to a new container supplier. This was done to reduce our plastic usage."

"The jars contain less plastic and are just as strong as those we used before. We think it is important to offer the product in a fancy, transparent package. The product is clearly visible, looks nice, and has a maximum shelf life," concludes Kappé.

Allnuts has an extensive range for both businesses and individual consumers. People can order nuts, dried fruit, and herbs via the company's website.
