"It is during Ramadan that we make the best sales," explains Fleur Devismes, Palimex's executive assistant. "We really have a peak in date consumption over this period. Even if the date, as a general rule, is a product that is in high demand all year round".
A calendar conducive to sales
This year, Ramadan, which began on May 6, coincides rather well with the harvest schedule of the Medjoul date in South Africa: "The seasonality of harvests also has an influence on consumption. In fact, for example, we have just received the new harvest of Medjoul dates from South Africa, which will also generate a peak in purchases. These dates are very popular with consumers, because they are great in term of quality and in terms of prices," adds Fleur. In addition to these dates, Palimex also currently offers produce from Algeria and Tunisia,Palestine, Israel and Saudi Arabia.
"It is a Ramadan that works much better than last year, when professionals had restocked 5 days in advance. The sales had really taken place at the last minute. While this year, we restocked two weeks before Ramadan began. And we had an intense flow of activity," concludes Fleur.
