Switzerland:

Foreign Affairs Commission wants negotiations with US

The Foreign Policy Commission of the National Council (APK-N) wants to negotiate with the US, in order to come to a free trade agreement. A motion to this effect was supported.

The motion of State Councillor Konrad Graber instructs the Federal Council to conclude a free trade agreement, or at least a preferential trade agreement, with the USA. The State Council approved the motion last November, and the Federal Council also recommends its adoption.

Now the APK-N has also supported the motion, with 16 to 8 votes and 1 abstention. The Commission believes that the economic exchange between Switzerland and the United States is of great importance and that the current window of opportunity offers a real opportunity for negotiating a free trade agreement.
