The commercial mission undertaken by table grape companies from Murcia to China and Vietnam last week is about to conclude.
Representatives of the Moyca, El Ciruelo, Frutas Esther, Uniland, Frutas Torero, and Hispagroup companies, belonging to the Apoexpa association, have met with large importers from both Asian countries to get to know each other personally and promote their table grape production.
"There is a lot of expectation on the part of the importers, so we'll start carrying out the first test shipments this summer. We have met with representatives of companies with sufficient distribution capacity and logistics infrastructure to avoid potential quality problems due to the long distance involved," stated the president of Apoexpa, Joaquin Gomez.
According to the representative, despite the interest there is for Spanish table grapes, "it isn't easy to find a place in these markets due to the high competition offered by the North American product. However, we believe that, despite the greater distance with the United States, our prices, and above all the quality of our product will allow us to compete."
The product will be shipped out both by sea and by air. Some of the participating companies also have stone fruits, a product that is also of interest for the Chinese and Vietnamese market, especially plums.
