When talking about golden kiwis, Patrizion Neri, president of the consortium, reports that the product is well-recognized and consumers are starting to appreciate it more and more. Demand is good and all the efforts and investments made in the past few years are paying off.
"We are very pleased with the feedback and the market responded very well. Our product has a minimum 14° Brix, meaning it is much appreciated by consumers."
Another very important aspect is shelf-life."I checked it in a supermarket a few days ago as I inspected a Jingold punnet that was left there covered by other products. A high-quality product is obtained starting from the field and what I saw confirmed that."
Jingold now boasts 1300 hectares of Jintao, 250 of Jinyen and around a hundred of Oriental red kiwis. Only 10% of golden kiwis are sold in Italy, the rest goes to Europe and overseas.
"The start of the campaign was characterized by golden kiwis not managed by clubs and not subordinated to strict quality protocols. Then things went back to normal and consumers are appreciating high-quality golden kiwis more and more."
