"The Peruvian export season is almost over"

The season of Peruvian grape exports to China is almost over and the supply volume is beginning to decline. The Chilean grape export season, however, has just begun. This poses a clear threat to the market share of Peruvian grapes. However, in the end, the market conditions for Peruvian grapes are not that bad." This is according to Sean Chen of Riverking.

"We begin importing Peruvian grapes every year in late November and continue until the middle of April in the subsequent year. The most popular grape variety, among the many varieties in the grape market, is the Sweet Globe. We imported 80%-90% of Peruvian Sweet Globe grapes last year, and this year our import volume is even bigger.

"This is the season when Peruvian grapes arrive in large volumes, but market supply is already slowing down. Of course, Chilean grape supply is encroaching on the market share of Peruvian grapes. In addition to Peruvian and Chilean grapes, we also import grapes from Australia to China. A small volume of Australian grapes arrived in early January via air freight, and larger volumes of Australian grapes begin to arrive in China via sea in late February. The price of Australian grapes is currently not that high. The price of good-quality Australian grapes is around 280-300 yuan [41.72-44.70 USD] per box (9 kg net weight). The Australian seedless grapes sell well. We expect the supply season to last until the second half of May."

"We currently import grapes mainly from Peru, Chile, and Australia, and sell them on the Chinese market. Later this year we will also investigate the possibility of importing grapes from Spain. We will work hard to bring Spanish grapes to the kitchens of Chinese consumers."
