Prices of Belgian apples and pears are going down

If consumers are pleased to see the prices of Belgian apples and pears drop, the same cannot be said of the producers.

The drought of 2018 affected fruit sizes considerably. This size reduction led to a drop in prices, but also a shortening of their shelf life.

The economic consequences are therefore important for fruit producers. Losses vary from 5,000 to 8,000 euros [5.647 to 9,035 USD] per hectare.

The 2019 season is not looking much better. In fact, the trees are already in bloom and winter is not even over yet.
