The mushroom market is reasonable at the moment. "It's a slightly boring market," reckons Arno van den Oord of mushroom and bean sprout wholesaler Chmpoord from Ammerzoden. "The demand isn't that big, but it matches the supply at the moment. Thankfully, we can't complain about the quality."
"All countries are participating a little. The United Kingdom also continues to buy normal volumes for now," continues Arno. The prices of the white mushrooms are around 1.50/1.60 Euro. Varieties like Portobellos, oyster mushrooms and chestnut mushrooms have regular sales."
The trader doesn't expect the demand for mushrooms to increase greatly. "It's not the time of year for it. I hope the market remains the same. We do see a weekly rise in bean sprout sales, those sales are going well, but the prices are at a much more constant level."
