Since its founding in 1989, HLB Tropical Food has been dedicated to the marketing of ripened, air-shipped exotics. Over the years, their diverse range of products has come to include figs, rambutan, physalis and avocados - in addition to the various types of papaya - which are traded on the North American and European markets. In its anniversary year, the import company is again present at the Fruit Logistica: according to reports, numerous fruits will be eye-catching again.
BIO-Papayas coming up
BIO-Papayas have been part of the company's diversified product range in the US for several years and will soon be established in Europe as well. "In addition to the other product range extensions, we are also developing in this segment."

Although papayas are basically a year-round product, there are still variations in the available quantities, depending on the season or the climatic conditions. "However, we strive to deliver continuously and reliably to our customers, and our 30 years of experience enable us to respond flexibly to market developments. If products in one growing area are lacking, we get them from other regions. Conventionally grown papaya fruits from Brazil are in our assortment year-round," said Raiß.
Palmer Mangoes
In some ways, HLB's European assortment in deviates from what is available in the United States. Unlike the popular mango Keitt and Tommy Atkins varieties, which are popular in America, the Palmer variety is offered to European customers outside of the main Kent mango campaign. According to Mrs Raiss, there certainly is potential for more development in this area.
