Superstorm Willa and Storm Vicente complicate the weather on the east coast of Mexico

Hurricane Willa is about to touch land in Mexico

Mexico is getting ready what might be one of the worst storms in history to reach its Pacific coasts. Willa formed on Saturday and went from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane in just two days. Fortunately, yesterday it downgraded to a Category 4 hurricane and its winds have been losing speed this morning.

The meteorological systems that affect the country, including Hurricane Willa and Vicente, which is already a tropical depression, will cause strong to torrential rains on Tuesday in 22 regions of the Mexican Republic, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN).

The country expects large and destructive waves in several zones of the center and the southwest coast of Mexico. Rains between 15 and 30 centimeters could cause landslides and floods in parts of the states of Jalisco, Nayarit, and Sinaloa.

In recent days, authorities have been working to protect the people in the path of Hurricane Willa. Thousands of people have been evacuated, schools remain closed and airlines have started to move away from their trajectory and have even canceled flights.

We wish the Mexican people and our contacts in Mexico that are facing these threats the best of luck and hope they are safe.
