Destined for Kazakhstan: 170 tons of apples exported from port of Amirabad

Siyavash Rezvani, in charge of the Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), said that 170 tons of fresh apples from Damavand orchards were recently exported to Kazakhstan from the port of Amirabad.

Rezvani made the announcement on Wednesday. He noted it was the first time that a cargo of apples was loaded in Amirabad for shipment to neighboring countries.

He added that one of the main objectives behind promoting the economies of the northern provinces, including Mazandaran, was to take advantage of the opportunities for producing agricultural and horticultural goods and to export products to the 400 million-people market of the Commonwealth Independent States (CIS).

The director general of the port of Amirabad went on to say that producers and merchants will be provided with the facilities for exporting various types of agricultural and horticultural goods from Mazandaran and its neighboring provinces.

En.mehrnews.com reports on the Amirabad Special Economic Zone being home to 13 refrigerated warehouses with a capacity of 130 tons of agricultural and horticultural produce per day.
